Pros and cons of Zygote 3D Anatomy Atlas & Dissection Lab app for iPhone and iPad

Zygote 3D Anatomy Atlas & Dissection Lab app good for

Im not a medical professional, and I cannot compare this to other apps for price or content, but as a non-professional I found this to be an interesting and relatively easy to use anatomy atlas of the human body.
Im not a medical professional but have been interested in anatomy since building the Visible Man kit as a kid. The user interface is great once you get the hang of it and features are way better than other apps I explored.

Some bad moments

Pros: - It has actual, real, true 3D scrolling, zooming and panning. Not like most of the junk out there that claims to be 3D but actually isnt - The ability to sort, filter and add by organs, regions, systems, tissues or individual parts - Includes all macroscopic, physiological systems of the human body - Ability to reset, restore and save current views and settings - The slice option. Seriously, this is cool. Those with a medical background will appreciate the ability to view in coronal, sagittal and transverse views, or any combination in between. - Its an evolved version of Google Body / Zygote body, so a large history of development is going into this app and Im certain there will be plenty of updates and added features in the future Cons: - scroll and rotate controls are a little sluggish/slow, increased sensitivity would make a big difference - inability to hide an individual muscle/part (after double-tapping, parts seem to reappear when you try to rotate again) - difficult to select veins, arteries, lymph vessels & nerves visually unless you scroll in very close - individual piece selection (eg pectorals) doesnt give any biomechnical or detailed information, only "This is part of the thorax". This appears to be almost placeholder information for more detailed info to be put in there in the future. - only available in the US store. This is a *massive* con, and if it become available in the UK and Australian stores Im sure it would see a lot more success. Not a con, but its peculiar that Zygote continue to clothe their homunculi. This is an educational tool, lets try to overcome this Victorian prudishness and show the human body as it actually is. This app is worth every cent of the $28. I have been using Google Body / Zygote Body for years and throughout my diploma and degree, and have been waiting for this app for almost as long. While there are a few cons, they are easily outweighed by the pros. $28 might seem expensive for an app but if you really want to get the best anatomy app available on *any* mobile platform, this is the one. I dont think youd regret the purchase. (Qualifed PT and 3rd year Medical Science/Exercise Physiology student).
I just feel lost when trying to navigate this app. There has to be a better way of structuring the content and giving me more control over what I can and cant see. Just trying to see the entire skeletal system took me a lot of time (still cant see the ribs with out using the scalpel tool?) and Im still seeing random small structures appear. Please put some more thought into this and make it a less clunky tool so I can feel Im getting my moneys worth.
I wish I knew how to get refunds on iTunes App purchases. This app is not ready for release. The interface is buggy and cluttered.
Its annoying how when I try to add/remove organ systems it decides to add many others, I just want neuro structures never asked for lymphatic I would like: >Single select should be default with white background and body off >a better search to be at the top right for everything >able to select organ systems with it deciding to add/remove others >ability to pin structures and remain pinned until unpinned Great app but lousy controls makes it aggravating to get what I want to view efficiently
I would recommend Zygote Anatomy Atlas to anyone. It’s the best anatomy app out there. They got so much done with this app it’s amazing. All the bugs are completely fixed. The 3D graphics make it easy to understand and I learned more from it than from a whole semester of anatomy. It’s convenient to have right on my phone for quick reference. Definitely worth the price!
Gorgeous 3D renderings of accurate anatomy! Once you learn the interface, its easy to select systems, rotate, zoom in, and see how they interconnect in the exact view you want. Check out the tutorials in help menu (question mark at the top)/feedback and support. They are awesome.
